Seeding & Hydroseeding

Seeding

Seeding is often used as a more economical way to establish grass on large areas. Many times seeding is the preferred option on large commercial sites as well as long roadways.

The Seeding Process Includes:

  • Removing existing grass and weeds if necessary.
  • Finish grading to create a smooth surface and positive drainage.
  • Topsoil or compost may be added if desired.
  • Soil preparation including pulverizing, raking, rock pick up etc., to create a good seedbed.
  • Seeding with the desired grass using rates and blends dependent on conditions.
  • Fertilizing the soil
  • Mulching with straw
  • The straw can be crimped into the soil to help prevent it from blowing away
  • We also offer an option to apply a hydro mulch tackifier (glue) over the straw with a hydroseeder to help stabilize the straw

Hydroseeding

Used primarily on commercial projects where access is good, especially on steep slopes along roadways. Hydroseeding helps cut labor costs when seeding large areas. The ground is prepared in the same manner as traditional seeding prior to seed application.

The Hydroseeding Process Includes:

  • Removing existing grass and weeds if necessary.
  • Finish grading to create a smooth surface and positive drainage.
  • Topsoil or compost may be added if desired.
  • Soil preparation including pulverizing, raking, rock pick up etc., to create a good seedbed.
  • Seed and fertilizer is hydraulically applied through a hydroseeder in one step.
  • Once the area has been seeded, straw is applied.
  • Hydro mulch tackifier (glue) is then applied over the straw with a hydroseeder to help stabilize the straw.
  • There are also many different hydro mulch products that can be chosen in lieu of straw.
